L'Oreal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation

Hey guys

Apologies for my mini hiatus! I'm in the midst of my final year at University, and so I've been focused on working hard and enjoying the last few months of Uni life.

Now that I'm back home for the Easter break, I thought it'd be a good opportunity to do an update on a product I tried a few months ago. After using The Body Shop compact, my obsession with cushion foundations was real. They're great for dry skin, as the formula tends to be on the dewier side of things, and the packaging is ideal for on the go application. L'Oreal's take on the trend hit the U.K. high street a few months ago, and so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

The foundation is soaked into a sponge

To apply I just bounced the sponge into the product and dabbed over my face. I found that the coverage was quite light but with a bit of effort could be built up to a medium, and it gave me a really fresh healthy glow. If you have dry skin in fairly good condition this would be perfect, especially for the upcoming summer months as the minimal makeup look seems to be very on trend. The only slight drawback is the hygiene question. I can't help but think that reusing the sponge without washing it frequently would spread bacteria, but I combatted this by throwing out the sponge after a couple of uses and sticking to a foundation brush. Another thing to bear in mind is that cushion foundations, whilst amazing, are not necessarily the most cost effective way of buying foundation (you only get 14.6 grams of product). In my experience, the compact lasted about two months before drying out. A really useful method you can use to prolong the life of the sponge is to turn it over every so often, as some foundation can linger at the bottom of the pan.

Despite this, I really did love the dewiness of the formulation, and I probably would purchase this again. Here's a photo of the foundation after a few hours of wear (brace yourself for a close up of my face haha!) Considering that the foundation has an SPF of 29, it didn't look too shiny, and didn't break down on the skin despite my running around campus.

Excuse the eyebrows!

Overall, if you're searching for a luminous foundation this is a really good option. It's easy to pop into your handbag, and lasts particularly well on dry skin types.
